RT VAUGHAN |
For some time oujr only piece of documented evidence existed with a hint on the 1870 census for Hancock County. In the household of John and wife, Susan was a 92 year old blacksmith named John "Mock". We have since all pretty much speculated that this had to be Susan's father. Mabel Harp also favored the "Mauk" connection over that of a Snapp link.
This would lays to rest any doubt on who the wife of John Vaughan Jr. really was.
The linked document below is the Tennessee Death Certificate for Robert Thomas Jefferson Vaughan. (1851-1920). He was the youngest son of John and Susan. Per the informant, James Vaughan (bro to deceased) he clearly states that his mother was Susan MAUK.

In addition, he is buried at Lee Valley Cemetery not located other sources od Vaughans that have been recorded in that cemetery, but it is entirely possible that RTJV's siblings are there, as well as John and Susan?
