Aside from the fore-mentioned 'Green Group' our VP group is also responsible for several entries in the 'Orange Group' when we ran tests to see if Abraham Vaughan was related to our guys (and he wasn't).
Ben Vaughan does not have William and John's Y-DNA but has instead the Y-DNA of Willards. Many of you share in the desire to find out as we need to know if Ben himself was a son of a Willard or if it wasn't him at all but was James Vaughan who was the son of a Willard man.
It seem it was James who was the Willard, as there were Willards living close to the Callicotts in Prince Edward County, VA not too long before James was born, but can't prove this or disprove it without finding DNA samples of James and Martha's other sons to compare agains Bens' Y-DNA.
If James' other sons match Ben's Y-DNA, that would mean either all of James sons were adopted or, much more likely, that James' Y-DNA was not the same as John's Y-DNA, and thus Nancy Callicott either had James by a Willard man before marrying John, or else John and Nancy adopted a Willard baby -- which is unlikely as Nancy was pretty young when she married John. (Would a 'kid' know enough to raise another person's child when (at the time?) She had not even had one of her own yet.
