Are there two wives for Thomas R. Vaughan? Here is an entry for the family.
1. THOMAS R. 5 VAUGHAN (ISAAC 4, DANIEL 3, WILLIAM PATRICK 2, UNKNOWN 1) was born Abt. 1851 in Madison County, Arkansas, and died January 14, 1916 in Milford, Texas. He married (1) LAURA MISSOURI SMITH. She was born Abt. 1851 in Arkansas, and died Aft. 1920. He married (2) LAURA HARP Abt. 1869, daughter of CARTER HARP and DIANNA. She was born Abt. 1851 in ,,Arkansas.

Notes for DANIEL VAUGHAN:
Living in Milford, Ellis County, Texas in 1910 and in Justice Precinct 4 in Ellis, Texas, in 1920. Appears on both census records for those years. Living in Wichita County, Texas in 1930.
Children of THOMAS VAUGHAN and LAURA HARP are:
ii. JAMES6 VAUGHAN, b. February 1870, Madison County, Arkansas.
iii. JEFF VAUGHAN, b. Abt. 1872, ,,Arkansas.
iv. MOSES VAUGHAN, b. Abt. 1874, ,,Arkansas.

*1870 census, Laura is shown as 19 years old. In 1880 Laura is 19 years old. In 1870 Laura is born in Arkansas, in 1880 she is born in Missouri. Note that in 1880 son James is shown as his parents being born in Arkansas, but just above on the 1880 census, Laura is shown born in Missouri. So it looks to me that these are two different women. I'd say that the mother of James died sometime between about 1874, after Moses was born, who is shown as age 6 in 1880. Note that Daniel's 1880 entry shows his mother's place of birth as Missouri, the only one for Thomas' sons. So Laura #1 is the mother of James, Jeffie and Moses, and she dies about 1874-1879. About 1878 Thomas marries 17 year old Laura and has Daniel in October of 1878. I'd say that due to the same name of both wives, that the data has been tangled up. Apparently, Laura Harp was born 1851 in Arkansas and died about 1874-1877 in Arkansas. Laura Missouri Smith was born about 1861, not 1851 and she after 1920, probably in Ellis County, Texas.

Robert Woodrow Vaughan - son of Dan & Lena Darden Vaughan
The son of Thomas R. Vaughan grave is in Milford, Texas where he is buried with his wife, Laura. - listed as LM Vaughan on the stone. Says she was born 12/24/1859 and died 1/2/1952. Many researchers have listed his wife as Laura Melvina Harp who died in 1903 in Arkansas. My family records show that Dan's mother was a Laura Missouri Smith - The 1880 Census shows Thomas R in Arkansas with a wife named Laura who is 19 - showing 4 boys with the oldest being 10 - which would mean if he belonged to that Laura - she would have been 9 when she gave birth
Note too: Lewis Vaughan book "Vaughan Pioneers" on page 42. Thomas R. Vaughan son of
Isaac, married ca 1869 to a Laura who was born in 1851 somewhere in Arkansas. Another source Laura's middle name to be Missouri, unable to confirm.
