JOHN VAUGHAN JR. - ROBERT THOMAS JEFFERSON

RE: "Cousins, ...speculation around who was the wife of John Vaughan, Jr. (son of John and Nancy). At the time, our only piece of documented evidence existed with a hint on the 1870 census for Hancock County. In the household of John and wife, Susan was a 92 year old blacksmith named John "Mock". We have since all pretty much speculated that this had to be Susan's father. In conversations with Helen, she also has relayed that Mabel Harp also favored the "Mauk" connection over that of a Snapp link.Today, Helen sent to me quite a gold nugget.....it was not only a new piece of info but it pretty much lays to rest any doubt on who the wife of John Vaughan Jr. really was.The linked document below is the Tennessee Death Certificate for Robert Thomas Jefferson Vaughan. (1851-1920). He was the youngest son of John and Susan. Per the informant, James Vaughan (bro to deceased) he clearly states that his mother was Susan MAUK."
