"1842 - 1863
Following John Vaughan's death,(1858) Nancy stated in a revolutionary pension affidavit …after her marriage she and her husband resided in the State of Virginia six years and then they moved from the State of Virginia about the year 1800 and came to Hawkins county Tennessee. She added that they settled on or near Clinch River some 5 or 6 miles from where she was living in '58 (with a daughter) in Hawkins County–(changed to Hancock County, Tennessee), on the land, and in the house, Samuel Vaughan had inherited."
"1887- Having no children, Carter and Sarah live on the farm until Sarah passes away in 1906.Carter remarries a year later to a Matilda Eidson.They live on the farm until the death of Carter Vaughan on January 11, 1911. He and Sara are buried in marked graves in the Vaughan Cemetery. They had no children and though Carter had remarried, he leaves the house to his nephew, James Warner.(Son of his youngest sister Matilda and husband Lewis Warner). In the end Carter’s second wife, Matilda Eidson gets the farm. She is also buried in Vaughan Cemetery.
