The father & mother of Phillip A. Vaughn out of Clark Co, IL
VAUGHN, BEVERLY MINOR, FANNY 1850-08-22 1 /255 CLARK IL
By 1860 we find Beverly & Fanny "missing" and their son (my grpa's dad) Phillip living with his maternal grandmother Margaret Chambers and unclePhillip Chambers in Edgar Co, IL. We have not been able to locate either of them after this time.
This Beverly Vaughn is son of a Charles Vaughn in Henderson, IL, if I remember correctly. No relation as far as I know.

Ayres Vaughan was b. 1742 according to this. He could not be the son of William Vaughan and Fereby Benton because they were not born yet.

Questioning that our Mary Jane Brown Vaughn was born in Roane Co. TN. On the 1900 census she says that both her parents were born in Virginia and that she was born in TN. It would seem a little unusual for her parents to have come to Roane Co. TN then have moved back to Hawkins Co. TN where George W. and Mary Jane were married in 1840. Most of the time over the years, weddings have taken place near the bride's home. Another supposition is that people were moving south and west, rather than north and east during that period of time. Of course, all that is to say that I have no idea where Mary Jane was born other than TN! I do notice that on the census records from 1850 - 1900, Mary Jane is consistent when giving her age. This makes me think that she was probably an educated woman. . . two of her sons, George H. and James T., were teachers at some point. Son, George H., was also the census taker for their area in 1900. "I wonder about is the identity of Willie E. Campbell, a niece of Head of Household, who is living with GW and MJ in 1900. On the 1900 census, Willie E. Campbell (niece, 36 yrs. old) a widow with dau Essie B, bn Feb 1893, is living in this household. Willie had 4 children, but only 1 living in 1900. Willie's mother bn in TN, father bn in MS. I haven't seen anything about a sister of George Washington's marrying a Campbell, so maybe Willie is actually a niece of Mary Jane's?"

Subject: Re: Vaughan Family.....******(info to be corrected )
Joshua Vaughan was not a son of William Vaughan and Jean Watson. Joshua was born 1826 in Patrick Co. Va., son of Joseph Vaughan and Nancy Via. This Joseph was a son of Joseph Vaughan Sr. who was married bef. 1770 in Goochland Co. Va., later lived in Bedford/Franklin Co. He was born abt. 1745.
Joshua was married to Caroline M. Hollandsworth in Patrick Co. Va. They were my great great grandparents.
...............Thanks for the corrections!!!!
..."And to see an article that mentions William Vaughan & Faira Bee Lunah, I did noticed that there wasn't a mention of her being a Cherokee, just as the "Native American wife" and that Willaim was a Welsh immigrant"... (Did not copy all the messages as it does not relate here...)
