Dr. Rebecca Mae (Tillery) Verser, beloved wife, daughter, and mother tragically passed away March 31, 2010 at Mt. View Hospital at the age of 35. As a professor of communication at NMSU, she will be remembered as a talented young woman who not only touched the lives of family and friends, but also influenced the lives of many students.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her grandparents; William Howard Tillery, Lionel D Vaughan; Vina and Henry Bauman.
She is survived by her husband Gilbert Paul Verser III and her young daughter Claudia Mae Verser both of Las Cruces, NM; her father Howard Dennis Tillery and her mother Peggy Vaughan Tillery both of Bella Vista, Arkansas; grandmother Alice Vaughan of Clifty, Arkansas. She is also survived by five AFS foreign exchange sisters; Mandy Ballerstedt of Germany, Adiantini Supriadi of Indonesia, Suttinee Phongmode of Thailand, Waka Komua of Japan and Ratchnanon of Thailand. Other surviving family include her mother-in-law Patricia Verser of Fayetteville, Arkansas; father-in-law Gilbert Verser II and wife Susan of Springdale, Arkansas;
aunt Onedia Oldrich and husband Tommy of Lowell, Arkansas; aunt Diana Young and husband Ralph of Bella Vista, Arkansas; uncles Junior Vaughan and wife Linda and John Vaughan of Clifty, Arkansas; cousins Breana McDonald, Michael Harris, Gene Vaughan, Doug Vaughan, Kay Vaughan, Scott Dover; and numerous friends. .
Rebecca arrived in this world on November 8, 1974 in Rogers, Arkansas. Although her life was suddenly cut short, it was filled with much joy, happiness and adventure. She was recognized nationally as an accomplished scholar with the National Communication Association. As a young child she traveled with her parents via motorcycle touring most of the U.S., and
journeyed abroad with her husband exploring her roots in Great Britain and Ireland.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday,
April 6, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CLAUDIA VERSER SCHOLARSHIP FUND at Pioneer Bank, Las
